It’s a GIRL! Baby Shower Chic

Today is a pretty important day. Ask her Mother and she’ll tell you, the world was forever changed on Feb 19th twenty five-ish years ago. I held this post a day, because I wanted to post it on my best friend’s birthday. Not only is she the inspiration for this post, but the post itself is really all about how wonderful and beautiful she is [to read more, pop on over to my instagram].

I won’t tell you how we met, we’ll talk about that another day. Today is all about how amazing she looked for her fancy bridal shower at the beautiful Skamania Lodge in Stevenson, Oregon. Heather is quite happily married to a wonderful man who adores her and they are expecting a baby girl this spring. So naturally, when her mom and I talked about the shower, I was really excited.

Heather and I picked our two adorable outfits around the theme of the shower – which was just about the chic-est pairing of pink and gold I’ve ever seen. Heather’s mom decorated the banquet hall with the class and sophistication of a wedding and the day…the day was perfect, from start to finish.

Heather is plus size and pregnant which has been a wonderful journey for her, but more on that coming soon! Finding plus size maternity clothes is a NIGHTMARE – not to be spoken of lightly. In short, there are no plus size maternity clothes. If regular clothing is tricky, for the plus size soon-to-be mother, then the prospect of finding a dress that made her feel like the princess she is, well that was a daunting task. Luckily, Mod Cloth sells a wide range of sizes and styles perfect for any occasion.

She paired this gorgeous dress with simple gold flats [similar], her newest Kate Spade necklace [similar], a clutch lent from yours truly [similar] and beautiful bouncy blonde curls.

I wanted a dress that would be comfortable [we’re seeing a trend here], chic and would fit with the theme. When I saw this gorgeous pastel dress [similar] at City Chic Online, I knew it was the one. To play up the pink in the dress, I wore my new princess coat and added my favorite yellow and pink silk scarf [similar] to soften and provide contrast against the dark color of the handbag [similar]. With so much color in the outfit, neutral flats are the perfect compliment [similar].
