Like many of you, I grew up playing with Barbies. My parents tell me that when they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I used to say “I’m going to have all the Barbies in the world.” My Barbies had fabulous lives and they got to do all of the things that girls didn’t typically do then. My Barbies didn’t play house – they played lawyer, corporate executive and fashion model. They did the things I wanted to do but felt that I couldn’t. So now that I am pursuing my dreams, I’m thinking back to where they all started… and as silly as it might sound, they started with Barbie by my side.
Next to Malibu Barbie, Glam Splash Barbie has it pretty good. She gets to swim in the ocean with dolphins while wearing pink and looking fab! So if you’ve been following me on instagram, you probably know how #obsessed I am with Monifc Plus Size Swimwear so it was easy to choose something from her line for this look. I’ve been dying to try it ever since my #bffoflife bought a few pieces last year. She raved, and raved and raved about how much she liked her pieces. She held on to this one-piece and didn’t have a chance to wear it so this year, she gifted it to me [she’s such a doll]. Let me just tell you that having never tried Monif’s collection, I was nervous about how it would fit. When I tried it on for the first time I was shocked at how wonderful it looked. This suit is just EVERYTHING! Monif clearly knows how to dress plus size women and I swear, her swimwear is made of pure magic! The fabric is thick enough to provide a lot of smoothing yet is very comfortable.
This swimsuit makes me feel exactly how I feel on the inside [which is probably how Glam Splash Barbie feels] – utterly beautiful!
A little advice regarding fringe swimsuits – do not, *I REPEAT*, do not put them in the washer and dryer and do be careful while putting them on when wet.
